GCA-Tinian tops 7th Annual Chamoru Language Competition on Guam

Led by volunteer coaches Angie and Elloy Fitial who facilitated GCA-Tinian’s after school Chamoru language program and assisted by teachers Cesar and Rowena Libut, the students excelled and brought home six trophies for Tinian.

In the elementary division, the GCA-Tinian children’s choir brought home gold.

In the middle school division, the school’s choral reading group brought home gold.

In the middle school division, essay category, Joey San Nicolas brought home gold; Wilhelmina Cing, silver; and Mary Grace Atalig, bronze.

In the middle school division, oratorical category, Carlyn Hofschneider brought home the silver.

“Our students have improved greatly after bringing home three prizes last year, to six this year,” GCA-Tinian said.

The Public School System funded 39 students to participate through the Federal Programs Office after an Innovative Assistance Program proposal was submitted by principal Rev. Reid Ellis with the approval of  Commissioner of Education Rita Sablan and Board of Education Chairwoman Lucy Blanco-Maratita.
