
THE CHCC Environmental Health Disease and Prevention program, with guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has inspected stores on Saipan for variety of Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks, which have been voluntarily recalled by Gerber Products Company based on an ongoing FDA investigation. The Gerber product in question is a potential choking hazard for babies and young children. CHCC-EHDP has done an assessment on Saipan and did not find any of the affected products in stock or on shelves. Assessments on Rota and Tinian are currently ongoing.
CHCC is urging food establishments and community members not to consume the affected Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks. CHCC advises the community to seek medical attention for any choking related illness.
Recalled products can be identified as follows:
• Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks – Strawberry Apple, Net Wt. 3.2 Oz (90g), with UPC 0 15000 04618 7, all lot codes
• Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks – Banana, Net Wt. 3.2 Oz (90g), with UPC 0 15000 04608 8, all lot codes
• Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks – Banana, Net Wt. 1.59 Oz (45g), with UPC 0 15000 01015 7, all lot codes
