Dr. Celia B. Lamkin, overall coordinator for the Northern Marianas, Guam and Hawaii, said the event will call for a peaceful resolution of the ongoing dispute over the Spratly Islands , which are claimed by the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei.
There will be song and dance numbers as well as presentations about the Spratlys and former Philippine Sen. Ninoy Aquino, a democracy advocate, who was assassinated on Aug. 21, 1983.
There will be similar activities on Guam, Hawaii, Mississippi, New York, California, New Jersey, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Texas and Washington D.C.
Filipino communities in Canada Dubai and Saudi Arabia will also participate.
