Golden Harvest school summer camp to hold mini-concert

This will be the culmination of the six-week program from June 14 to July 23.

Children from both private and public schools, 5 to 10 years old, joined this camp.

This summer camp was introduced to break the monotony of our children’s activities during summer.

We normally bring our children to baby sitters or stay at home watching TV or playing electronic games.

It was always a challenge for working parents where to bring their kids during summer.

According to Susan Deblois, president and founder of the school, “We saw the need and listened to our parent’s clamor. Since our students are on a summer vacation, we develop a program that will make our children busy, therefore, being productive while learning new skills and exciting experience at an affordable price. Aside from the activities, they will meet new friends and develop their inter-personal skills.”

The school summer camp schedule was 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch and materials included.

Parent’s need not worry about their child’s lunch and class materials as it is included in the fee.

Campers rotate for an hour in each class.

In Arts and Crafts, campers have to make leis and mwar, and other recycled and natural products being made into home decors and something they can use in their everyday life thus promoting green and environmental awareness to campers.

In Music, campers were taught how to play instruments to discover what their interests are at the same time develop their singing ability.

In Cooking, campers were taught how to cook simple and nutritious food while they enjoy eating the meal together with fellow campers thus promoting teamwork among the group.

In the afternoon, campers were given the chance to do hands-on activities in computer such as Microsoft Word. Excel & Power Point presentation to name a few.

In Dancing Class, campers learn the latest/modern steps and the traditional not-so old steps of grandma.

In Drama, campers were given the chance to discover their talents of being actors and actresses and honing their new found love in music, dance, performing arts, etc.

Seven mentors including the administrator run the camp activities.

Everyone involved were enjoying every moments helping and teaching our campers.

As days go by, we became one big family.

A bonfire and overnight pajama party will be held on July 22 with family members.

Everyone is excited and looking forward to these forthcoming events.

Every day is full of surprises to campers as new lessons were introduced.

To highlight the event, a mini-concert is slated on July 23 at 6 p.m.

Campers will showcase their talents in music, dance and drama. There will also be an exhibit of the campers’ arts and crafts as well as computer activities at the concert site.

Tickets are sold at 99 cents each.

We invite all of you to watch and witness our campers perform and see for yourself what they learned during this summer camp!
