GOVERNOR Juan N. Babauta is looking into the 28 unsolved homicide and other major pending cases, according to the Department of Public Safety’s spokesman, Police Lt. Pete C. Muna.
The Office of the Governor has made an “arrangement” with an officer at the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau who handles unsolved murders and other major cases, Muna said. Babauta would like to meet with the CIB officers every Friday during media discussions about the cases, Muna said.
“(Babauta) wants to be involved by asking the public for assistance so we can help solve these crimes and hopefully to prevent future incidents,” Muna said.
Police Week and other police-related activities are usually observed in May. DPS had formed a unit that is focusing on the 28 unsolved homicide cases.
Of the 28 pending homicides, most victims are Chinese nationals with nine listed as killed. Most of the victims were killed by blunt objects and guns.
