GOVERNOR Juan N. Babauta on Wednesday proclaimed April as Northern Marianas College Month and assured school officials that he and the Washington representative are working toward tapping more federal funds for NMC.
“The college has come a long way. We also have to commend the members of the board of regents, school officials and faculty for their contributions,” Babauta told a panel of educators prior to the proclamation signing. NMC is celebrating its 21st anniversary.
The governor’s proclamation is in line with President Bush designation of April as National Community College Month.
Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio announced that his office was working with Congressman Robert Underwood, D-Guam, to provide more federal assistance to NMC.
Tenorio said he is also working with former Washington Rep. Ed Pangelinan to identify federal programs that could benefit NMC.
