GTC school to hold workshops for parents

GTC acting principal Charlotte Camacho told the Variety in an interview that the school is focusing on learning this year.

“We hold a school fair each year with different themes. Last year, it was focused more on health. This year we are focusing on learning as our theme,” Camacho said.

She added that the school fair set for March 28 will feature many activities not only for the students but for the parents, too.

“This is a half-day event and we are inviting all the parents to join the workshop because they can benefit greatly from it,” Camacho said.

Participating parents will learn teaching techniques and skills which they can practice in their homes.

“Teaching begins at home, so it is important for our parents to be able to start the lessons at home,” Camacho said.

Parents will learn how to choose appropriate books for read-aloud programs, technology and mathematics, healthy living for students, writing tips, helping out with science projects, reading and spelling activities, and other  topics.
