Guam’s Rapadas presents human trafficking issues

Rapadas also gave a “best practices” presentation at the conference’s annual summer meeting.

Additionally he served as a member of a panel that discussed the role attorneys general have in combating human trafficking that involve several forms of slavery.

Other participating AGs were: Gary King of New Mexico, Greg Abbott of Texas and Rob McKenna of Washington state. Also in attendance were Illinois State Attorney Anita Alvarez and Mark Lagon, the former U.S. Department of State director of the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

The conference provided a forum to cultivate knowledge to improve legal services available to members, consumers, the public, industry and government agencies.

Conference members also cooperated on emerging legal concerns such as human trafficking, water, public lands and environmental protection.

“I was honored to serve on such a knowledgeable and prestigious panel. The connections I’ve made here at the…summer meeting will improve the level of service the Office of the Attorney General will provide to the people of Guam,” said Rapadas.
