MVA Managing Director Perry Tenorio said during the regular board meeting on Thursday that they were able to iron out some snags they encountered with the backpack supplier. He did not elaborate.
This is the 12th year for the Happy Children in Paradise project which provides young tourists with free backpacks featuring the Saipan-da mascot.
MVA earlier said 10,000 children under the age of 11 years old are expected to receive backpacks as a souvenir of their visit to the CNMI from July 1 to Sept. 30.
Coupons are available from participating hotels and Saipan-da backpacks are redeemable at the DFS Galleria. The children will also get their pictures taken with a life-size Saipan-da at DFS Galleria.
MVA said Happy Children in Paradise is one of its most popular on-island campaigns and marketing strategies designed to encourage more families with young children to make the CNMI their destination for travel and to create more awareness about the islands abroad.
