These jobs are in the food and beverage department, rooms division, and sales and marketing.
The participating hotels were Fiesta Resort & Spa, Hyatt Regency, Palms Resort Saipan, Pacific Islands Club and Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
Fiesta Resort’s Elena Soll said they didn’t give application forms to prospective applicants who were instead encouraged to visit the hotel.
“We would know if they are interested if they come to visit us. Some of those who inquire here usually didn’t come to inquire at our office,” Soll said.
She said they provide a stipend, free meals and other benefits to their interns who may be eventually hired by the hotel.
Lin Seman of the Hyatt said they gave out application forms for internship, although they have also job openings for full-time employment.
Seman said they also informed students about the prospects of getting a hotel job and what it entails.
Jack Camacho of Palms Resort Saipan said they have job openings that students can apply for.
There were many job inquiries at the booth of the Office of Personnel Management.
OPM’s Frances T. Salas said they informed students about the types of positions needed by the government.
At present, she added, these include clerical and administrative assistant positions.
Department of Public Safety’s Nathan Bermudes gave handouts to students about the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program as well as parenting skills and drug awareness.
Heather M. Santos, NMC’s program manager and chairwoman of this year’s Career Fair, described the event as very successful.
“The turnout was great,” she said.
Santos said they wanted to assist NMC’s graduating students obtain post-graduation employment.
“The other goal was to provide an opportunity for our students to interact with our local agencies and businesses and gain valuable information that will aid their career and educational planning,” she added.
Santos thanked the participating government agencies and business establishments.
“NMC is truly grateful for their commitment at providing opportunities for our students to better prepare for their careers. Together with our partners, NMC is working at preparing our workforce to meet the demands of the future.”
The other businesses that participated were Joeten department Stores, Joeten/Ace Hardware, Tan Holdings, Marianas Health Services, NMC Human Resources, Pacific Trading Co. and the International Business and Professional College.
