CUC personnel to participate in disaster management training

The disaster management for water and wastewater utilities course will deal with various natural and man-made — either accidental or intentional — hazards that make water and wastewater system vulnerable.

Office of Homeland Security special assistant Patrick J. Tenorio said the training will also focus on the potential effects of these hazards.

“Legislation that serves to aid in the planning and response to a natural or man-made incident will be discussed along with measures that can mitigate threats to the water and wastewater system,” Tenorio told CUC Executive Director Antonio S. Muna.

The training is set for April 27 to 29, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Napu Room of the Pacific Islands Club.

The Office of Homeland Security and the Office of the Governor are the main sponsors of the 16-hour training.

The Texas Engineering Extension Service and the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center will be the facilitating agencies of the training.
