In the internet age, we still need a post office, says businessman

Letters in the envelope, Ayuyu added, have a “personal touch” and this remains important for many people.

He understands that the internet offers many ways to communicate but he said it is more “personalized” when one opens an envelope to read a letter.

There are also important documents whose authenticity  is very important and can only be sent through mail, Ayuyu said.

“People still find mail necessary so post office boxes are still going to be there for them,” he added.

Joining Ayuyu in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new post office on Saturday were Senate Floor Leader Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan, and Speaker Eli D. Cabrera, R-Saipan.

Ayuyu said the Dandan Postal Services will also use emails.

For an additional fee of only $1 a month, customers will be notified through emails or phone calls every time their boxes receive letters or packages.

This extra service will help their customers avoid wasting time and gas driving to the post office just to check their mail boxes, he added.

Ayuyu said almost 50 percent of the time they check the post office, people end up seeing empty mail boxes.

Telling customers when to check their mail boxes is a very convenient service, he added.

Dandan Postal Services is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

Ayuyu said in this bad economy when “gloom and doom” is everywhere, seeing a new establishment open is a good thing.

People will get hired and more services will be extended to the community, he added.

Dandan Postal Services is available to the residents of Dandan, San Vicente, Koblerville and Papago. It is also the nearest to Northern Marianas College which needs such services most of the time.
