LIANA M.S. Hofschneider, Matua Council for Native Chamorro Advancement president, will soon announce her intention to run as an independent candidate for the U.S. Congress.

“I’m seeking a seat as … a truly independent [candidate], no party or gubernatorial endorsement,” Hofschneider added.

Also running for Congress are House Floor Leader Edwin Propst, a Democrat, and former Commonwealth Ports Authority Board Chair Kimberlyn King-Hinds, a Republican.

John Oliver DLR Bolis Gonzales withdrew from the Republican primary previously set for April 13, and is now expected to run as an independent.

The incumbent CNMI congressional delegate, Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, will not seek a ninth term. He and Gov. Arnold I. Palacios have endorsed the candidacy of Propst.
