Inos: Rebates to be mailed on Monday

Inos said the checks for child tax credit will follow as soon as the Department of Finance is notified by the U.S. Department of Treasury  to release them.

“We will be certifying the first recipients to [the Internal Revenue System] on Monday. Checks should then be issued in about two weeks,” he said.

Inos said the government’s tax collections are still low but they’ve managed to identify funding for the rebates.

Government workers say they welcome the news and look forward to the release of the child tax credit before the school reopens this September.

“We need it. You know times are tough,” said an elderly government employee who asked not to be identified.

Child tax credit varies per individual taxpayer based on income and the number of qualified child dependent they declare.

“It helps especially during school-opening,” a mother said.

Some parents said they use the child tax credit to buy their children’s school supplies.

Classes in all public and private schools will resume in September.
