In a spectacular display of colorful costumes and graceful moves, the students performed “The Nutcracker.”
The cast members were Asami Takai as the sugar plum fairy, Alxery Nasadovich as the nutcracker, David Bucher as Drosselmeyer/Mouse king, Sakuya Imaya/Cerin Hwang as Clara, Albina Raeva as Clara’s mother, Sakura Imaya as the doll, Carine Fuji for the Arabian Coffee, and Eun Bi Choi, Raissa Macaraig, Joy Sizemore, Sally Lai, Melanie Choi, and Alisa Tsatsral as the jokers.
This year’s visiting international ballet stars were Alexey Nasadovich from the Yekaterinburg Ballet and Opera Theatre in Russia, Asami Takai from the Homura Ballet in Osaka, Japan, Hee Sun Kim and Han Sol Jeong from the Universal Ballet Academy in Seoul, South Korea.
The platinum, gold and silver sponsors for the show were Laolao Bay Golf Resort, Speedy Tertle & Belka Tours, Burger & Comer PC CPAs, Joeten Enterprises Inc., Bank of Hawaii, and First Hawaiian Bank.
Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts president Dr. Gene Eagle-Oden also thanked the other donors which included the Marianas Variety, KSPN Channel 2, the Saipan Tribune, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, Good Day Filming Company, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kautz Glass, Shell, Asiana Airlines, Delta Airlines, Dave Electronic Center, Pacific Islands Club, DFS Galleria, IT&E, Palms Resort Saipan, Pacific Trading Co., Kevin’s Department Store, and O’Connor Berman Dotts and Banes.
Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts offers ballet classes for children of all ages and adults. Beginning January 2011, the school will offer new programs such as ballroom dancing for children and adults, as well as individual lessons. Ballroom classes will be conducted under the supervision of a world class choreographer from Russia.
