“They will be sent to Dr. Aurelio Espinola, a pathologist based on Guam,” Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro told reporters yesterday.
“Investigation is still going on,” she said.
The skeletal remains are presumed to be those of Alex Matubis, the draftsman who went missing on July 29.
Ogumoro said the investigators have been asking for assistance from the family members and the former employer of Matubis in obtaining his dental records.
The skeletal remains were recovered in Marpi on Jan. 24, 2009.
Chief Prosecutor Kevin A. Lynch earlier said they will be working with Dr. Espinola who has experience in conducting forensic examinations on skeletons to determine the cause of death.
This, Lynch said, is necessary to determine if there is criminal liability involved.
Matubis worked for Castro & Associates for 22 years.
