The Safe, Aware, Free, Empower or SAFE, Jamboree, will include a march against sexual violence, the Rock Against Sexual Violence Concert, FIBA 33 basketball competitions, educational booths of different service providers, as well as food and beverage vendors.
Registration for the Walk Against Sexual Violence will start at 2 p.m. and the walk will begin at 3 p.m. The first 200 individuals to register will get a free t-shirt.
Raffle tickets will be sold during the event and winners can take home various prizes.
The SAFE Jamboree is hosted by the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, the Family Violence Task Force, the Ayuda Network Inc. and community partners.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the national theme is “It’s Time…To Get Involved, Engaging Bystanders in Sexual Violence Prevention.”
The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence aims to increase public education efforts to change belief systems and practices that support violence in the CNMI.
The coalition also aims to increase sensitivity and reach out to victims and survivors, to increase the community’s knowledge about sexual violence, and to encourage the entire community to speak out against sexual violence.
