Based on the latest reports released by the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association, the island’s three car dealers — Joeten Motors, Microl Corp. and Triple “J” Motors — sold only 42 brand new cars last month. They sold 68 in January last year.
Last month’s brand new vehicles sold included 18 sedans, 6 trucks, 3 vans, 10 sport utility vehicles, and 5 others.
Joeten Motors topped last month’s record for selling 15 brand new cars, representing 35.71 percent of the market share. Microl Corp. followed with 14 brand new Toyota cars sold, claiming 33.33 percent of the market share, while Triple “J” Motors sold 13 units, for a 30.95 percent market share.
Toyota, with 14 sold, is still the leading brand of choice. Mazda and Nissan sold 7 each last month while 5 units were sold by Honda and other brands.
Kia sold 3 while Hyundai sold 1.
The three dealers sold a total of 17 used cars last month. Joeten Motors sold 7; Triple “J” Motors, 6; and Microl Corp., 4 .
Joeten Motors is the CNMI’s distributor of Nissan, Ford, Honda, Kia and other car brands. Microl Corp. sells Toyota and Chevrolet, while Triple “J” is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki Mazda and other brands.
