Japanese celebrities to help promote Palau

KOROR (Palau Horizon) — Several Japanese celebrities have agreed to help promote Palau country as a tourist destination, according to President Tommy Remengesau.

Remengesau said several famous Japanese have been made goodwill ambassadors to assist Palau in promoting the island nation as a safe tourist destination.

The president was in Japan recently, and he said he had secured the support of influential Japanese in the government and the media sector to help support Palau’s promotional efforts.

Among these celebrities is the famous Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki who agreed to promote Palau during his wrestling match.

Remengesau said in the coming months, more Japanese celebrities are expected to help promote Palau through articles and tours to the country.

During his, trip the president also met with the members of the newly formed Japan-Palau Friendship Organization. He invited them to participate in the celebration of Palau’s Independence Day in October.

The organization has again agreed to provide fireworks for the festivity, he said.

Remengesau said he also secured the commitment of the Japanese members of the organization to visit Palau.
