Tatsuya Mochimaru of Pacific Development Inc. said the cleanup is an annual event conducted by the Japanese Society of the NMI.
Most of the trash was collected from the north end of the Last Command Post in Marpi.
Mochimaru said CUC Executive Director Abe Utu Malae accompanied his staff members in the cleanup drive.
They started working at 9 a.m. on Saturday and gathered around the monuments to pray.
The Japanese Society of the NMI last week issued an invitation to the community, welcoming whoever would like to join the cleanup drive.
