Saipan mayor’s office executive secretary Vinycia Seman yesterday said the visit is not part of the exchange program.
“They’ll come here for a Christmas visit,” she added.
They will be the third group of K.S.K.K students visiting Saipan this year.
The mayor’s office role will be to facilitate the students’ accommodations and itineraries on island, Seman said.
The 15 students are expected to arrive on Dec. 25 and will stay on island until Dec. 30.
The students will pay for their stay at their host families.
The mayor’s office is now working on the criteria for families that may want to host the students, Seman said.
While here on Saipan, she added, the students will visit historical and cultural sites and will provide for their own transportation.
She said the students will not be interacting with their local counterparts since it will be already Christmas break.
This is the 27th year that the mayor’s office and K.S.K.K. have been exchanging students.
K.S.K.K, which stands for Kokusai Seishonen Kenshu Kyokai, is a non-profit organization founded in 1973. It aims to develop and enhance activities for international companionship between the youths of Japan and those of other nations.
