JEMCO Ltd., which operates four Mobil gas stations on Saipan, has renewed the $100 monthly gasoline allowance it provides to community volunteer Marcelino “Max” Baleto Aguon for the fifth consecutive year.
In a letter to Aguon dated Jan. 15, 2025, JEMCO operators Edward and Jovita Flores said: “Given your recent efforts and hard work you have demonstrated throughout the year to clean up our environment, JEMCO Ltd. is pleased to continue our donation of $100 monthly gas to alleviate expenses incurred by you. This is a remarkable endeavor that you committed to the CNMI and its people.”
In a separate statement to Variety, Jovita Flores said: “With what Max is doing, it benefits everyone, it benefits the community and the island … and of course, tourism is everyone’s business, we need our island to be beautified. What Max is doing, a lot of it is on his own time …. We see him at the beach on [a] Sunday morning collecting trash left behind by people that have used the pavilion, and there are times when dogs will come around and the trash will be over the place. Max is the one that picks it up and we really appreciate what he does and for that reason we continue to support him. We’re very happy to do it. We hope he won’t give up — he has been doing community service for the last 25 years. To show him our appreciation we support him by giving him an allowance for fuel.”
“I am proud and happy that they continue to support my cleanup activities,” Aguon said, referring to JEMCO.
He vowed to continue his community volunteer service.
Aguon has received many commendations and awards for his cleanup activities that also help promote environmental awareness in the community.
JEMCO operates four Mobil service stations on Saipan located in Susupe, Chalan Kiya, San Vicente, and Kagman, and four Mobil service stations on Guam.
