Joeten-Kiyu library executive director John O. Gonzales told the Variety yesterday that their information technology center staffers will start handling the classes from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
“Many of our constituents would like to attend the free computer classes which the library had been offering during the evenings. We would like to accommodate as many as we can, but many of them go to work during the weekdays,” Gonzales said.
Since the library started offering free classes since last year, more students had been enrolling in basic computer knowledge covering beginner’s use of computers, learning to explore the Internet, mouse navigation, desktop knowledge and printing or saving documents, and computer consumer maintenance which teaches students the basics of taking care of their computers.
The IT Center also noted increased enrollment in its advanced courses such as Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office operations, including Word and Excel applications.
The IT center received agrant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Nineteen computer units are available to the public during regular library hours, with one table available for laptop users and one network printer.
