Ronald Ealey Jr.
SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho has ordered the offices of the attorney general and the public defender to explain and justify why their recently submitted plea agreement regarding a repeat offender should be accepted.
The OAG and OPD submitted the plea agreement on June 12.
Judge Camacho said he has some concerns as the defendant, Ronald Ealey Jr., has been convicted in the past in four criminal cases involving burglary and theft, and was sentenced to prison to 119 days. Ealey was arrested recently in his fifth case of burglary and theft.
“The proposed plea agreement by the OAG and OPD envisions the defendant to be sentenced to 18 months out of a possible five-year sentence, with probation violation sentence of the four past cases to run at the same time (concurrently) with the 18 months sentence,” the judge said.
He directed the OAG and OPD to submit in writing the reasons why the court should accept their proposed plea agreement on or by Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Judge Camacho scheduled a change of plea hearing for July 3 at 10 a.m.
In his latest and fifth case, Ealey was charged with burglary and attempted theft.
According to the information against Ealey, he unlawfully entered GT Guest House in Western Garapan to commit theft on March 3, 2024.
Investigators reviewed the surveillance footage, which showed Ealey entering the hotel, going behind the reception desk and rummaging through the desk and drawers. Ealey was also seen entering a doorway that led to a guest room and storage area. Ealey was seen wrapping an item under the front of his shirt as he left the establishment.
In 2022, Ealey was arrested for robbing tourists in Marpi.
