Jury finds woman guilty of assault, battery

A JURY convicted a 22-year-old woman of all six criminal charges filed against her for assaulting her former boyfriend and his girlfriend last year at an apartment on Navy Hill.

The jury found Qing Chun Jiang guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and two counts of assault and battery.

The jurors reached a unanimous verdict after deliberating for an hour and 15 minutes on Wednesday in Superior Court.

Assistant Attorney General Janine Udui, with the assistance of Assistant Attorney General Daniel Cohan, presented the two victims and one police officer as witnesses.

Qing was represented by the Public Defender’s Office.

The jury trial began on Tuesday. Associate Judge David Wiseman presided over the proceedings.

Court records showed that Qing entered the apartment on March 25, 2001 and attacked Sayed Mohammed and his girlfriend Li Suli.

Qing punched Li on the face and pulled her hair. She also assaulted Mohammed with a large knife.

A responding police officer tried to pacify her, but the defendant again attacked the victims in front of the officer.

Wiseman set the sentencing for June 6.
