Jury paneling starts for defendants in ‘ice,’ endangered species cases

In its second amended information, the Attorney General’s Office charged Ignacio T. Deleon Guerrero, 57, also known as Kaboyu, and George T. Manglona, 29, with illegal possession and trafficking of “ice.”

Deleon Guerrero and Manglona also illegally possessed marijuana, the AGO said.

Moreover, it added  Deleon Guerrero and Manglona conspired to commit “ice” trafficking.

Deleon Guerrero was also charged with unlawfully removing a green sea turtle, and numerous trochus shells from Saipan waters, and unlawfully removing a fruit bat,

The defendants have denied the charges.

A cooperating source told police that Deleon Guerrero and Manglona were both active in selling “ice” at a house in Chalan Kanoa, where the two defendants were living.

A tin house in the same property was being used by the defendants for the users who wanted to smoke “ice,” police said.

Deleon Guerrero and Manglona were receiving stolen properties and firearms in exchange for “ice,” police added.

Last March, members of the Drug Enforcement Task Force, with the assistance of the Department of Public Safety’s Tactical Response Enforcement Team and the Criminal Investigative Bureau, raided the defendants’ homes after Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja issued a search warrant and arrest order.

At the time of the police operation at Deleon Guerrero’s residence, a juvenile was also arrested for marijuana possession.

Police said the juvenile was brought to the juvenile detention facility in Kagman. Other details about this case were not available.

Manglona will continue presiding over the jury selection today.
