Karidat anniversary dinner reset to June 20

In a telephone interview, Karidat executive director Angie V. Leon Guerrero said she is hoping the bishop could make it on the new schedule.

“I still have to meet with Bishop Camacho but we are hoping he will be able to join us for the anniversary dinner,” Leon Guerrero said.

Camacho underwent surgery to remove a section of his lung that had been affected by cancer last month.

“We want the bishop to be with us for the anniversary dinner. He has given so much to the community over the years, and we want to honor him before he resigns,” Leon Guerrero said.

The Karidat anniversary dinner was originally set for May 24.

“We will be holding the dinner at the Raraina Restaurant of the Aqua Resort Club from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.,” Leon Guerrero said.

She added that Karidat is hoping to raise about $15,000 from ticket sales for the anniversary dinner to be used for the different programs and services they offer to the community.

She said tickets for Karidat’s anniversary dinner and fundraiser are still being sold at the Karidat office or from any of the board members for $50 each while raffle tickets are being sold at $1 each.

“There will be door prizes for those who will be at the dinner, and a $1,000 prize is at stake for the grand prize in the raffle drawing,” Leon Guerrero said.

“Karidat is inviting the community to join us for the anniversary celebration. There will be lots of fun and prizes for lucky participants,” she added.

Leon Guerrero said Karidat, a non-profit charitable organization, was founded by Camacho 28 years ago.

“Each year, the organization has provided emergency food, shelter, and services to thousands of people in the commonwealth,” she said.
