Karidat retains low risk audit status

Karidat executive director Angie Deleon Guerrero told the Variety in an interview yesterday that they have maintained this status since 1999.

“This is a very positive report for the organization and we are very glad to share this with all our supporters and the whole community,” Deleon Guerrero said.

She said a low risk audit status means that all the organization’s financial reports are clear — no questions and issues were raised, all costs were accounted for and every penny was used for a good cause.

Deleon Guerrero said they are required to submit a yearly audit report as a non-profit organization that receives  grants.

“We hire the services of a private auditing office each year, and we are proud that we have maintained the same low risk auditing status report through all these years,” she said.

Karidat receives the bulk of its funding from CNMI and federal programs, and gets donations from the private sector.

These fund different programs including  24-hour crisis prevention, information and referral service, public awareness, recruitment and training of volunteers.

Each year, thousands of families and individuals receive help from Karidat’s food assistance program and  services for victims of crimes which include informing victims of their rights, preparing and filing Temporary restraining orders for victims, providing counseling services and support in dealing with law enforcement agencies and the court system, referral and other services.

“We are here for those who need us, and we are glad to show you our clean records. All the donations and funding that we receive from our generous sponsors and the community go back to help those who are in need,” Deleon Guerrero added.
