KELVIN Cabrera Sanchez, who was under pretrial release condition for a separate criminal, was arrested with Michael Olaitiman, who was wanted by the police for assaulting his partner and threatening to kill her and her children.

On Friday, Sanchez appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho in the custody of the Department of Corrections for a bail hearing.

Sanchez was represented by Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig while Assistant Attorney General David Karch appeared for the Commonwealth government.

After hearing from the parties, Judge Camacho imposed a $50,000 cash bail on Sanchez and remanded him to the custody of Corrections. He was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 19 at 10 a.m., and an arraignment on July 22 at 9 a.m.

According to the complaint against Sanchez, while the police were looking for Olaitiman on July 10 pursuant to an arrest warrant, they learned from a witness that Olaitiman was inside a vehicle parked in the Saipan Vegas parking lot.

Olaitiman was accused of assaulting his partner and threatening to kill her and her children. He was charged with assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, child abuse, disturbing the peace and domestic violence.

The police executed the arrest warrant on Olaitiman while he was in the front passenger seat of a black Toyota Hilux operated by Sanchez.

Detective Melvin Cadiang noted that he had dealt with Sanchez from previous cases and knew that he was under release conditions.

Detective Britton Cruz at 4:16 p.m. placed Sanchez under arrest for contempt, in violation of his bail conditions. Sanchez was supposed to be on house arrest and must always be in the company of his third-party custodian.

The Toyota Hilux truck was towed to the Department of Public Safety impound where an inventory of the vehicle’s content was conducted.

In October 2023, Sanchez was arrested for DUI, illegal possession of drugs, and firearm.

In November 2023, he was arrested again, this time on charges of unlawful transportation of firearms, person permitted to possess a firearm, removal of serial number from a firearm, no firearm permit, and illegal possession of narcotics.

In March 2024, the court found probable cause to charge Sanchez for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

In that case, Sanchez was charged with assault and battery, strangulation, interfering with a domestic violence report, disturbing the peace, and domestic violence.
