Dinah S. Medina, one of the teachers, said their “2010 Holiday Season’s Musical Odyssey Recital” was attended by more than 150 individuals, including parents.
“The event was very successful and the parents enjoyed the presentation,” she said.
Despite the economic difficulties, she added, a lot of parents still want their children to develop their musical talents.
Zuriek Chua, a piano student who obtained the Gold Award at the Tumon Bay Musical Festival, was one of the 62 students who participated in the recital.
This January, Medina said Chua will be back on Guam to join a competition for piano players.
Jun Concillado, parent of Keynote student Patreisha Mae Concillado, said it’s good to see children performing what they have learned from the music school.
He said parents should continue to support their musically inclined children.
Patreisha Mae, a first grade student of Koblerville Elementary School, performed a song.
She was awarded first place in the recent Memorial Day Patriotic Song competition and won third prize in the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ 4th Watch song competition.
Milagros A. Merjilla, Keynote director, expressed appreciation for the performances of the students, saying that “the inner nature of man is the province of music.”
She said “music is beautiful as it reveals feelings that otherwise cannot be expressed in the usual ways.”
Rommel and Ryan Isidro, Keynote teachers, said they are happy with the progress of their students.
“It makes me so proud seeing their progress and how well they have improved,” Rommel Isidro said.
