Kilili will meet constituents at Thursday Street Market

“It’s important to see as many people as I can when I am here at home,” Sablan said. “It is important to hear what people are thinking.

“And I want to let constituents know what is happening in Congress and about the work their congressional office is doing for them.”

Sablan is home in the Northern Marianas for a few days, before he returns to Washington for the swearing-in of the 112th U.S. Congress.

The congressman made it a point in his first term in office to find new ways to communicate with constituents in the CNMI.

“In my first two years I started regular town hall meetings on Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, and opened offices on all three islands. I am available for one-on-one meetings at the congressional offices here and in Washington.

“But it’s important to talk with people informally, too. The Thursday night market in the Paseo, the Sabalu market in Susupe, and the Tuesday market at the Garapan Fishing Base are great places to see a lot of people and have a casual chat.

“I will be continuing all of these ways of keeping in touch with constituents and listening to their concerns now that my second term of office is about to begin.”

Sablan also publishes a weekly e-newsletter and has mailed out several printed updates on his work for constituents in the NMI.

“Not everyone has access to the e-newsletter. Not everyone has time to visit their congressional office because of work or school,” Sablan said.

“So it’s important that I go where the people are.”

For more information constituents can call the Saipan District Office at 323-2647, the Rota District Office at 532-2647, or the Tinian District Office at 433-2647.
