U.S. Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds will deliver the keynote address at Northern Marianas College’s 44th Commencement Exercise this Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Koblerville gymnasium.

A former chair of the NMC Board of Regents, King-Hinds was sworn in as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on January 3, 2025. She is the second person to hold this office and the first woman from the CNMI to represent her people in the U.S. Congress.

“The NMC Class of 2025 is honored and eager to have Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds as our keynote speaker,” NMC Class of 2025 Representative Bonnie Gio Sagana said. “From her consistent work prior to this position to support the CNMI community to helping small businesses with her current position up on the hill, her integrity has foreshadowed a promising future for the people of our islands. Furthermore, her commitment to building connections with learning institutions such as NMC to further opportunities for students are admirable and highly appreciated by many dream seekers.”

“The college is honored to welcome our former board chair and U.S. Delegate Kimberlyn King-Hinds as this year’s commencement speaker,” said NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero, EdD. “Having had the opportunity to serve alongside Congresswoman King-Hinds on the NMC Board of Regents, I witnessed her commitment to education and public service firsthand. Her role in Congress embodies the values of leadership, perseverance, and civic responsibility that we hope to instill in all of our graduates. We look forward to the inspiration she will share with the Class of 2025 as they prepare to make their own mark in our islands and beyond.”

Born and raised on the island of Tinian, King-Hinds holds a Juris Doctor degree and a Native Hawaiian Law Certificate from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii, a Master of Human Resource Management with honors, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University.

The commencement ceremony, which will celebrate the achievements of more than 260 graduates, will be streamed live on Northern Marianas College’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NMC.Proa and NMC’s YouTube page at 4 pm ChST.
