TARAWA (Pacnews) — Kiribati parliamentary Speaker Tekiree Tamuera has blocked discussion on a motion to amend several sections of the country’s Election Act, Radio Kiribati reports.
MP Anote Tong asked the minister for home affairs to make amendments to the act to prevent people casting multiple votes at elections.
President Teburoro Tito sought the opinion of the speaker, who said he had not received any reports over such illegal practices during recent elections.
