The Korean consul, the officers of the association and some guests from NMI government are set to cut the ribbon on Friday, to mark the opening of the Korean Community Center located at the back of Department of Labor in San Antonio.
A former shop of Neo Fashion garment that shut down recently, the center involves 10,000 square meters of premises that will accommodate guests on a daily basis.
Korean Association secretary general, Jonathan Joo said the center has a library, conference room and sports facilities that members of the community can have access to. It will also have a school for Korean language and culture.
“Anyone is welcome to the center where they can also learn Korean language and culture,” Joo said.
Members of the association’s board of directors are set to meet today to finalize the program for the ribbon cutting.
To date, there are 3,000 Koreans in the CNMI, most them engaged in store businesses.
Of this population, 260 are students with some of them are born on the island.
