Korean students ‘really like’ Saipan

The students, who are from first grade to college, are staying at Greenhill Resort Hotel.

“They came here on Dec. 29 and are interested in learning English. They really like Saipan because of the weather. They will come back here for summer school,” said Hee Sang Lee, the hotel president.

Third graders Doo Hyun Kim, Seung Woon Yu and Jimin Lee  said they learned how to write in English while on Saipan.

Hee Jin Yoon, a ninth grader, tried to learn more about speech.

“I also learned grammar and vocabulary,” she said.

Lee Jung Hoon, a college student, said they performed in plays.

“We acted and we spoke in English,” he said.

Sulgi Kim, an 11th grader, said they also learned about the Gospel at Eucon, a Christian school.

They go to school everyday from 8 a.m. and finish at 2 p.m.

Chinese and Japanese students are also attending the program.

They will receive their certificates after completing the course this week.

“Some of them are going home on Thursday. During their stay here on Saipan we made them comfortable and prepared Korean food for them so while learning English in a foreign place they could still feel at home,” Lee said.
