The Department of Public Works is currently conducting an environmental assessment in the area because the government wants to turn the place into another tourist destination.
The Lake Susupe Boardwalk Trail Project involves an educational boardwalk trail stretching 1,000 feet through the wetlands surrounding the lake and will be funded by federal funds for capital improvement projects.
Following the completion of Guerrero’s bridge, CRMO issued a cease order informing him that the construction of the structure is considered a major siting and requires a permit.
Guerrero said he needs $15,000 in able to comply with the regulation so he would have to borrow money from the Commonwealth Development Authority.
“I know CRMO is waiting for me to apply, but I’m still having a hard time thinking where to get the money,” Guerrero said.
