Demapan, Covenant-Saipan, told Sablan there had been vehicular accidents that occurred at one of the busiest intersections in Precinct 2, making it an “extremely high risk” area.
He told Sablan that the protection of drivers and pedestrians justifies the need to build such infrastructure there.
“I cannot continue to serve the residents and visitors of Precinct 2 without personally and professionally registering and submitting this compelling public purpose need,” Demapan told Sablan.
In an interview last Friday, Damapan said there is no greater obligation that he hold dear as a public official than the protection of public health and safety at all times.
He did not mention the funding source for the traffic lights.
