Leon Guerrero charged for Winchells robbery

THE Attorney General’s Office yesterday filed charges against a 20-year-old man who allegedly robbed Winchells in Susupe.

Ignacio M. Leon Guerrero Jr. was charged with robbery, theft for unlawfully taking stolen property, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, false arrest, manufacture, sale or possession of firearm, failure to possess an identification card, use of firearm in commission of offense, failure to register firearm, and disturbing the peace.

Leon Guerrero was arrested and set to be taken to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday afternoon.

Last Friday, Public Safety Commissioner Edward Camacho disclosed to the media that a suspect in the Winchells robbery case was already placed under investigation.

A man armed with a handgun robbed Winchells last June 9.

Police said the suspect managed to run away with an estimated $180 from the cash register.

Police investigation showed that the cashier was in the process of giving change to a customer when the armed suspect came in.

The suspect pointed what appeared to be a pistol at the cashier and instructed her to proceed to the back of the establishment.

The robber, who had a cloth covering half of his face, then fled from the establishment.
