“We are encouraging local businesses to tap these opportunities and participate or join biddings for the different projects which we have made available on the ARRA Web site,” Ada said during yesterday’s monthly Saipan Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Fiesta Resort & Spa.
Ada said the Web site — www.cnmiarra.net — provides a complete listing and specifications not only of all available projects open for bidding but postings for job opportunities, too.
The available ARRA-funded projects with the Public School System include the roof coating of Rota Jr. High and Rota High School in which all bids must be in by May 13.
Local businesses are also urged to bid for other active PSS projects including replacing and repairing of doors and windows for Rota Jr. High, Rota High School and Tinian schools, and roof coating and painting of Tinian schools, GTC, Tanapag, Garapan, Oleai, Marianas High School, Dandan, San Vicente, Kagman Elementary School, Chacha Jr. High School, Kagman High School, WSR, Hopwood Jr. High, San Antonio, Koblerville, and Saipan Southern High School.
A Commonwealth Utilities Corp. project involves the supply and installation of a new used oil separator and a new oily water separator.
A Department of Public Works project involves the retrofitting of existing parking light emitting diode lamps, for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota is open for bidding until May 12.
A project of the Northern Marianas Housing Corp. is for the construction of the Tinian amphitheater parking lot infiltration system which is open for bidding until June 7.
The deadlines for submission of bids for these various opportunities vary from May to June.
Ada said a total of 123 jobs have been created under the ARRA but 40 jobs still need to be filled up.
The vacant posts include openings for a field coordinator, ecologist, and project administrator for Laolao Bay, an English instructor and a distance learning coordinator for Northern Marianas College.
“We urge everyone to visit the ARRA Web site and grab the chance to take part in any of the opportunities posted there,” Ada said.
To date, the CNMI has received $67 million in ARRA money, not including the $8 million grant awarded to the IT&E which resulted in the creation of 60 jobs, he added.
