“The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges Standard IV B states that the board should regularly evaluate its policies and practices,” he said.
Evaluations will allow the board to continually grow and improve, he added.
The process of self-assessment, moreover, is integral to the college’s on-going program review process and data-driven, evidence-based decision-making, he said.
“In order to ensure that all the members of the board of regents are supporting the mission of the college in the most efficient, effective, and consistent manner, I will continue to prioritize board development activities that include continuous self-evaluation and board training,” said Janet H. King, NMC board chairwoman.
The self-assessment will help identify specific issues that can help build better communication and understanding among board members, she added.
