GOVERNOR David M. Apatang on Friday approved House Bill 24-46, re-appropriating $50,000 in developer infrastructure tax collections for projects to enhance tourist destinations on Saipan.
Authored by Rep. Angelo A. Camacho, H.L.B. 24-46 is now Saipan Local Law 24-23. It re-appropriates $50,000 in developer infrastructure tax collected in previous years for construction, renovation, repairs, or improvements on Saipan.
The funding is designated for local projects under Project Code SL145, focused on infrastructure, sustainability, and site rehabilitation for tourism enhancement within the Third Senatorial District.
Close to $1 million of the developer tax collection was appropriated in December 2022 through S.L.L. 22-16 for various road projects on Saipan. In December last year, through S.L.L. 24-12, $221,649 of the fund was allocated for construction, renovation, and repair of speed bumps, bus shelters, restrooms, crosswalks, installation of street lights, and traffic signage in Precinct 5.
