(Office of the CNMI Governor) — Lt. Gov. Dennis C. Mendiola warmly received Gov. Melchor Diclas of the Philippine province of Benguet during a courtesy visit to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Governor Diclas traveled to the CNMI with his staff and family members to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for collaboration between the CNMI and Benguet, which is about 155 miles north of Manila.

Also joining the meeting was Edwin P. Aldan, mayor of Tinian, recognizing the longstanding sister-city relationship between Tinian and Benguet. The visit further underscored the importance of maintaining strong people-to-people connections and shared cultural heritage.

“Visits like this allow us to build stronger connections, share ideas, and explore ways we can support each other’s communities,” said Lt. Governor Mendiola. “We are honored to welcome Governor Diclas and his delegation to the CNMI and look forward to continuing our partnership.”

The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both leaders to fostering regional partnerships, cultural exchange, and potential avenues for economic and community cooperation.
