Although fuel prices rolled back twice over the past three days, motorists in the CNMI are still paying steep prices at the pump, with diesel remaining especially costly.
On Thursday, Mobil Oil Mariana Islands, Inc. reduced its regular gasoline price by 20 cents, from $6.61 to $6.41 per gallon, and its Supreme gasoline price from $7.06 to $6.86 per gallon.
A second rollback followed on Saturday, bringing regular gasoline down further to $6.31 per gallon and Supreme gasoline to $6.76 per gallon.
Diesel, which stood at $8.78 per gallon before Thursday’s adjustment, dropped by 15 cents to $8.63 per gallon on Saturday.
While the latest decreases offer some relief, fuel prices remain elevated, continuing to strain motorists and households already dealing with high transportation and utility costs.
The back-to-back rollbacks come amid continued volatility in global oil markets, with uncertainty overseas still influencing fuel costs locally.
Even with the recent price drops, residents are being reminded that prices can shift quickly and may continue to fluctuate in the coming days.
For commuters looking to cut daily transportation costs, public transit remains one alternative as high fuel prices continue to affect household budgets.
