GOVERNOR David M. Apatang joined the E-Land Foundation in distributing relief food to survivors of Super Typhoon Sinlaku at the Coral Ocean Resort in Koblerville on Friday.

Hundreds of cans of food, boxes of instant noodles and other supplies were handed out to residents in a drive-through distribution.

Themed “Standing Together with the CNMI,” the Typhoon Sinlaku Relief Effort was a joint food drive conducted by the management and staff of E-Land’s Kensington Hotel, Pacific Islands Club and Saipan Coral Ocean Resort.

The E-Land Foundation will also distribute relief food items on Rota and Tinian.

“I just want to say thank you to the E-Land Foundation for doing this to help our community with all these food drives. We appreciate them,” the governor said in an interview.

“I understand they are also sending containers to Rota and Tinian. This is a great help for the community, and I must say thank you very much to E-Land for taking care of our people,” he added.

Kensington Hotel General Manager Ted Jung said they do not want to see members of the community suffer too much in the aftermath of the super typhoon. He said that once everything is back to normal, the CNMI can proceed with efforts to revive the economy, especially tourism.

On behalf of E-Land, Jung said they are grateful for the opportunity to help. He said they were pleased that the governor joined the effort to show support for the community and that they were not alone in the distribution because of support from both the community and the government.
