(HSEM) — The CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the National Weather Service-Weather Forecast Office in Guam continue to monitor Tropical Depression Nuri (03W) as it moves near the Marianas in the next couple of days.
Tropical Depression Nuri (03W) is moving southwest at 12 mph. It is expected to turn toward the east-northeast and decrease forward speed through Thursday. It’s then forecasted to accelerate as it parallels the west side of the Marianas, as it heads toward Pagan.
Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph. Nuri is forecast to intensify through Wednesday evening, possibly becoming a tropical storm overnight, before gradually weakening beginning Friday.

• Flood advisory in effect for Saipan and Tinian through Friday afternoon.
Preparedness information
• Secure loose items such as tents, canopies, tarps, trash bins, and other items that are vulnerable to gusty winds.
• Residents in flood-prone areas should clear drainage areas and unblock storm drains to prevent flooding.
• Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Turn around. Don’t drown.
• Stay informed from official sources, residents should continuously monitor the latest weather forecasts and information from the National Weather Service in Guam.
