(DPS) — On April 11, 2026, at approximately 11:16 p.m., DPS 911 Dispatch received a report of an auto-auto crash along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road in As Terlaje, near the Northern Marianas College traffic signal light.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a white Mitsubishi SUV was traveling westbound in the inner lane approaching the traffic signal. A charcoal gray Nissan sedan, traveling in the same direction and lane, failed to stop and collided with the rear of the SUV.
Personnel from the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. All occupants involved in the collision reported no serious injuries.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were removed from the scene by tow services.
Responding DPS officers conducted an on-scene investigation. During the course of the investigation, officers attempted to process the operator of the Nissan sedan for suspected driving under the influence. The operator became uncooperative and combative. For the safety of the public and responding officers, the individual was taken into custody and transported for booking and detention. He is facing charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence, and refusal to submit to testing.
The individual was identified as off-duty Police Officer I Jeremy Ngiraked, assigned to the Patrol Section. Officer Ngiraked has been employed with the Department of Public Safety since Dec. 16, 2025.
He has since been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of court proceedings.
