S.T.R.O.N.G. roof installations begin on Rota

On Saturday, May 16, on Rota, federal and local leaders came together to support the installation of one of the island’s first S.T.R.O.N.G. Roof systems at a storm-damaged home. Among those present were Gov. David M. Apatang, Governor’s Authorized Representative Patrick Guerrero, Federal Coordinating Officer Andrew Grant, Defense Coordinating Officer Capt. Harry Elliott, LTC Adrian Biggerstaff, and representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the United States Department of Defense, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

At the project site, Rota Mayor Aubry Hocog joined U.S. Navy Seabees as they began installing a temporary roofing system in coordination with federal partners. The S.T.R.O.N.G. Roof program provides temporary repairs for homes deemed uninhabitable due to storm damage. Rental properties may also be eligible with the owner’s approval.

Residents seeking assistance are encouraged to register through their respective mayor’s office. Additional information is available at https://bit.ly/strongroof
