Yield to emergency vehicles

(DPS) — The Department of Public Safety reminds all motorists to yield the right of way to responding emergency vehicles.

When an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind with lights and sirens activated, drivers must safely pull over to the right shoulder and come to a complete stop until the vehicle has passed.

If you encounter an emergency vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, motorists are required to slow down and move as far to the right as safely possible.

Your cooperation helps ensure emergency responders can reach those in need quickly and safely.
