Long wins Tinian kids talent show

JC Café manager Lot Bunao said  Long, who went home with a trophy and $100  bested eight other contestants. Long is the son of Tinian Chamber of Commerce president Philip Mendiola Long.

Second place winner Erich O. Manalo impressed the audience with her cultural and modern dance performance. She won $50.

Joshua Hofschneider won  third place and $30 for his prowess on the drums.

Bunao said that the show was very successful.

“The place was jampacked with parents and spectators who wanted to witness their children share their talents and show what they have to offer,” Bunao said.

She said the 4th to the 9th placers received $20 each from the sponsors, as well as gift packs and school supplies. Lucky winners from the audience  won various prices including back to school items during the raffle draws.

Bunao said with the success of the show, they will be doing it again next year to encourage more children to showcase their talents.

“We are doing this not only to spur the economic activity on island by creating more attractions for people to look forward to, but also to encourage our children to develop their talents,” Bunao said.

The idea for the talent show came from successful series of monthly Magpasikat (Be Famous) Challenge shows that JC Café held from February to July.

“We would like to thank all the participants, the parents and all the sponsors who helped make the event possible. We look forward to working with you again in the future,” Bunao said.
