MVA wants Rota to maintain restroom for tourists

MVA Managing Director Perry Tenorio said during a board meeting last week that they would like to sit down with the Rota mayor and discuss the issue so they could ask for a transfer of responsibility of maintenance from the MVA to the  municipal government or to the Department of Public Lands.

He said MVA should not be responsible and doesn’t own any asset, just jurisdiction over the facility.

“The transfer is possible and with the blessing of the [MVA] board members, we can make a visit to Rota to address this issue,” Tenorio said.

He said the pavilion at the site is also used by the public.

If the Rota municipal government will take over the maintenance of the restroom facilities, DPL can also maintain any improvements and the place will still continue to be a tourist site, he added.

The MVA board members said they do not oppose the transfer of the responsibility to the Rota municipal government.

They said the important thing is that somebody will take care of the facility and maintain it for the tourists and the public.

Tenorio said transferring the responsibility of maintenance of the restroom to  Rota will help MVA reduce its expenses.
